Process : Design and Production

Process

While desktop publishing has made the digital tools of graphic design readily accessible, professionals in the field offer expertise not available in a suite of software. While trained in the formal elements of design and typography, print designers also need to know their stuff when it comes to paper types and weights, color matching systems, presses and press checks, and scanning and resolution. Similarly, web work requires an understanding of web standards and technological trends, and the ability to design within those parameters at a cost-effective quotient. Please browse through these images for a glimpse into our design process.

Design and Production

Whether designing for print or web, we utilize a suite of desktop publishing applications to specify type and style sheets, determine grids and margins, and choose color palettes and image placement. This image shows the asssembly of the Victor Emanuel Nature Tours catalog in QuarkXPress.
